This year I am taking on Hampton Downs in Pedal4Prostate
This year I'm taking on Hampton Downs in Pedal4Prostate to raise vital funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation who support kiwi men and their families living with prostate cancer. Please support my effort by making a donation to my page. Thanks in advance for your donation!
My Updates
Three days to go …
Thursday 3rd Oct Well the big day draws near, the bike is away getting is pre-race tune-up & the nerves are definitely starting to build. Hopefully Mother Nature plays her part for everyone on Sunday too. Any last minute advice is welcome, any last minute donations encouraged & any late encouragement needed … check in again tomorrow 🇳🇿🎙☕️ ShareBusy Week ... just not on the bike
Monday 16th Sep Well its been a very busy wee time, which has meant zero time in the saddle. On the days when I had a window to peddle and planned a ride, mother nature said "not today skippy!" That's the way it goes and I'm cool with that, as I genuinely feel that despite a lack of kms, I'm still in a good space two and a half weeks out from race day. I have also discovered a brilliant race day breakfast which I highly recommend - wholemeal wrap spread with peanut, sprinkled with coconut, some golden syrup then take a whole banana and roll it up. Cut into six or seven piece and viola - peanut butter banana sushi! Will update again next week, hopefully with a couple of rides to talk about. Thanks again to my sponsors/donators and looking to forward to having a few more on board come Sunday 6 October 2024 ... Hampton Downs awaits ... lets go!!! ShareCheeky wee midweek ride
Tuesday 27th Aug A belated post on the latest training session, a mid-morning, mid-week spin around the hood. I’m slowing introducing more frequent inclines to try a mirror some of the slopes I’ll face around Hampton Downs, which my legs definitely felt after just under 80 mins in the saddle. Progressing well just six weeks out from go-time! Thanks to my beautiful wife Hilda & old mates Tracey and Elliott for their very generous donations - really appreciate your support of a great cause. Until next time 🇳🇿🎙☕️ ShareUpping the Ante & My First Sponsor
Sunday 11th Aug Eight weeks to go, so time to start cranking things up training wise. This morning was an hour long roll around the neighborhood and I was pleased with the results. Rode just under 24 kms in just over 61 mins and felt good getting off the bike. I know that there is plenty of work still to be done, but nonetheless a nice little confidence boost. Added bonus to end the day was getting my first sponsor on board ... sisters are the best 💖 Until next time, take care of yourself and those around you - NY Share1st training ride
Saturday 13th Jul We are underway. Just a little spin around the block for 30 minutes to make sure bike and bloke on it remember what they are each meant to contribute to this exercise 🤣 All felt good … long way to go though ShareLet’s Go!
Wednesday 10th Jul It’s always good to challenge yourself. And if you can do so while doing some good for other people, it makes said challenge even more worth while. Super excited to be involved in the 2024 edition of Pedal4Prostate. So, as the title says … LETS GO!!! 🇳🇿🎙☕️ ShareThank you to my Sponsors
