I'm fundraising for those in our community!
Every month we choose a not-for-profit in our community to support and this month is a little more personal... one of our passionate volunteers also known as my Dad/Rob/Rupert was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2017. Through prostate removal and radiation they successfully eliminated the cancer putting Dad into remission for 7 years. Last year the cancer unfortunately returned but this time is inoperable. Again, facing radiation but this time with the addition of unfunded medication Dad has managed to extend his life expectancy.
Remarkably through all this he has only managed to miss one market (due to radiation treatment). My parents drive from Auckland to New Plymouth each month for an overnight stay just to help at The Pickers Market and I am willing to admit that without their help the market would be a shambles.
It makes sense to dedicate this month to Blue September, let's show support for our most dedicated volunteers and those with Prostates in our lives.
I urge anyone with a prostate to get it checked!!

We're fundraising to help the Prostate Cancer Foundation fight prostate cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in NZ and the number one cancer affecting Kiwi men. Every year more than 4,000 Kiwi men are diagnosed and around 700 die.
All these men deserve to live their best life, and hundreds of families do not deserve to have their loved one taken away too soon. It would be awesome if you could help too by donating to help us reach the fundraising target.
